Catatan Jeannette Elise Farnham, siswi AFS asal Minnesota, Amerika Serikat saat mengikuti kegiatan homestay XI SMA YPSA ke desa Sukasari Serdang Bedagai selama 1 Minggu.
The first day we arrived there were two opening ceremonies, one at Shaffiyatul and one in Sukasari. Afterwards, we all departed to our host families. My family is hosting four people, and theyve been very gracious hosts.
The next day we were able to watch and ask questions to people making opak, the towns specialty. We saw the entire process, from raw cassava to sheets of opak drying in the sun. Yesterday we went to the beach to plant coconut trees. The ride there was long, but still fun.
Earlier this morning we taught at the local SD, and one of the students taught me to blow bubbles. Its been a great trip so far, and Im excited for what lies ahead.
